To reduce bureaucratic red tape, President Joe Biden will "bring many federal services into the digital age." The President plans to sign an executive order on Monday that will make government services such as passport renewal, social security benefits and natural disaster assistance accessible online, thereby improving efficiency. The order is intended to reduce the "bureaucratic turnaround"-the time spent visiting offices, filling out and collecting paperwork, and experiencing delays in mail from federal agencies.

"We do banking online," said Bill Sweeney, senior vice president of government affairs for the American Association of Retired Persons. "We are working online. We can order food online. We can order groceries via mobile phones. I think people are used to it now, and they also ask the government to keep up."

The White House hopes to execute most orders in 17 different federal agencies by next year. Americans can use computers to update and pay for passports, manage their federal student loans, apply for benefits, and more. The order will be signed on Monday afternoon.
