An epic Texas high school playoff game will be staged on Thursday

Over the years, Texas high school football has gone through various dynasties. Odessa, Permian, Plano, John Taylor, Brownwood, West Lake, Lake Travis, Carroll South Lake, Highland Park and many others came to mind.

When these dynasties face each other in the playoffs, they often become legends. Remember the magical match between John Taylor and Plano East? It was advertised as the greatest comeback in high school football history...the greatest comeback ever.

People in Pinewood will definitely remember the 2001 state championship game between the Love Panthers and the West Lake Jungle. Reggie McNeill led the Wolves to a 38-24 lead.

At 7pm this Thursday, an epic duel between the two strong men will be held at the Victoria Memorial Stadium. Shiner Comanches will fight the Refugio Bobcats. Football insiders expect that the winner of this game will continue to win the 2A and 1 state championships-this is not disrespect for the Tipson Bears. (I certainly hope they are wrong)

Both teams are very familiar. Either side is capable of winning this year's state championship, but I believe Refugio will defeat the defending champion in this game and advance to the state semi-finals against Timpson. I believe he will defeat Centerville.
