She told the money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk: “When I left the house, I was tired of looking at cobwebs and ugly old white PVC panels. Since the front of our house is a paved driveway, I think one year It would be nice to have some green in all seasons.

'It's really ugly, annoying and spidery. Whenever I was in front, I could only see spiders, trash and bare bricks. I have seen trellis used to make an area look more beautiful, and I thought "Why not give it a try?"

Simone bought most of the supplies from B&M, Home Bargains, and The Range. "My first stop was B&M Home Stores, where I bought trellis for 20 pounds. In the garden part, I also picked up artificial trees for 30 pounds each.

"Next is Home Bargains. I bought the planter for 9.99 pounds and the artificial turf for 24.99 pounds-I only need one roll. Finally, I bought it from The Range for 4.99 pounds per bunch. Artificial flowers, and the order hook is 3.45 pounds per pack.

The first step is to give the area a good clean. With a bucket of old-fashioned water and some sponges, Simone and her daughter started to work, using step stools to reach the high corners. Spray bottles and towels are also used to ensure that all corners and crevices are sparkling.

Next, the two took out the artificial grass and artificial ivy leaf grid. After determining the size of the trellis, they added command hooks and fixed the trellis in place. "It doesn't need to be fixed permanently, the grid hooks nicely," Simeone added.

"Then I cut the artificial grass to a certain size and pressed it down with some tape that I had in the cupboard. I flipped it on both sides to help keep the edges down. Then I put the flower pot and used it in the garden. Fill it with some rocks and broken wood, and then fill it with soil that I also have.

"I put the artificial flower in the pot, then I put the tree on both sides of it, and put the solar pile in it. Finally I painted the old flaky red steps gray with some leftover paint."

However, the project has not been smooth sailing. 'The command hook keeps falling off! ! This drove me crazy because I had to re-stick them back, but once the weight of the grid was evenly distributed, it would stick well and still be strong.

'When I set up the grid, I realized that I might be able to use another one, so I wanted to move the first one aside after buying the second one. However, after shopping around the store, there was nothing left, so I took full advantage of it and I was done in a few hours.

"Because our front garden is made of concrete, I think artificial grass will form a good contrast, and I am very satisfied with the result. All plants and flowers are artificial, because I kill plants like there is no tomorrow!

'Now we walk out the front door, we can't see the ugliness, we look out and see the beautiful green grass with flowers blooming all year round. I will also decorate it for different occasions-for Halloween, I will put orange flowers on the grid, and I will change them to red at Christmas.

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: “Simona has done a great job transforming her front porch. This place is more popular now and it’s all done within budget. Yes, this is especially impressive.

"If you plan to grow your own grass, especially if it's in your garden, the savings may be significant-but you need to do it right to avoid further problems."
