A man from Dover was charged in connection with a suspicious device that was left outside a bank in Rollinsford on Thursday.

Darek Chamberlain, 27, faces a felony charge of placement of a simulated explosive, police said.

Police said Chamberlain put an object wrapped in warning tape at a TD Bank drive-thru.

The Rollinsford Police Department said Chamberlain was taken into custody after he was arrested in Durham on unrelated charges.

Investigators said the surrounding neighborhood was evacuated as a safety precaution, but state police determined the device was not dangerous.
